Boma Joe-Jim

Boma Joe-Jim Chinda (b. 1976) is a Nigerian sculptor whose practice bridges tradition, experimentation, and a deep engagement with materiality. Born in Obi-Akpor, Rivers State, he has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in the cultural, spiritual, and ecological histories of the Niger Delta, while continually expanding the possibilities of contemporary sculpture.

 

A Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Chinda has built an expansive career, exhibiting widely across Nigeria and internationally. His work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, as well as in print, broadcast, and digital media, reflecting his growing influence within the West African art landscape.

 

Based at the renowned Universal Studios of Art at the National Theatre, Lagos, Chinda is part of a vibrant community of artists shaping the future of Nigerian sculpture. He continues to refine his craft through research, teaching, and mentorship, while maintaining an active studio practice. He lives in Lagos with his family.
